Job Description The Group of Breast Cancer at Biogipuzkoa Health Research Institute is looking for candidates interested in applying for a pre-doctoral contract in the next calls (AECC, Basque Government, etc.). Funded by a FIS project, the study in which the researcher will be involved is focused on the study of molecular and cellular mechanisms that control the pro-tumoral inflammation associated with lung cancer.
Project: Molecular and cellular mechanisms driving the intrinsic inflammation associated with lung cancer: is MyD88 the key player?
Research and Experimentation: Design and perform experiments and analyze experimental data obtained by molecular biology techniques, cell cultures and animal experimentation. Keep detailed records of procedures and results.
Bibliographic Review: Constant updating with relevant scientific literature in the research area. Contribution to the elaboration of bibliographic reviews for laboratory reports.
Project Collaboration: Collaborate with other laboratory members on specific projects of the Group and participate in regular meetings to discuss progress and results obtained.
Equipment Maintenance: Learn and perform basic maintenance of laboratory equipment and report any malfunctions or maintenance needs.
Presentations and Communication: Prepare regular presentations on research progress to discuss it in regular meetings and assist in writing scientific reports and papers. Participate in the regular seminars from the Institute.
Professional Development: Participate in conferences, seminars and courses relevant to the research area.
Problem Solving: Identify problems and propose creative solutions in solving experimental and technical challenges.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in health sciences (average mark > 7.5/10).
Official master's degree with Access to PhD studies (or certificate of being studying it).
High communication skills, critical and reflective thinking and autonomous learning.
Valuable Qualifications:
Level in English B2, C1 or C2.
Knowledge of molecular and cellular biology techniques (Western blot, PCR, ELISA, etc.).
Experience in animal models (rodents).
Experience in statistics.
Participation in publications and/or communications to congresses.
*A disability certificate of 33% or higher is a plus.
Languages: Excellent in English.
Contract Details:
Type of Contract: Six-month traineeship contract, which can be extended for obtaining Predoctoral fellowship with a One year Trainee Predoctoral Researcher contract available, extendable to a maximum of 4 years (annual extensions).
Work Schedule: Full-time (35 hours/week).
Expected Start Date: September-November 2024, although the position will remain open until filled.
Annual Gross Salary: 20,808€ gross salary.
The remuneration shall be based on the candidate's commitment and merit, as well as how suited they are for the role. The worker must comply with the operating rules set by the Biogipuzkoa Institute in terms of commitment, duties, working hours, leave entitlements, etc.
