Offer Description Synergistic combinations for cancer Immunotherapy based on agonist immunotherapy agents and interference with pro-tumoral Inflammation. SynerCombIT.
Transformative opportunities in the field of cancer immunotherapeutics usually stem from combinations involving agents of immunotherapy among themselves or in synergistic combinations with either chemotherapy or antiangiogenics.
However, multiple lines of evidence show that there exist inflammatory responses in cancer-bearing hosts that act to curtail the efficacy of immunotherapy.
Such deleterious activities are orchestrated by soluble mediators and are mainly mediated by myeloid leukocytes (tumor-associated macrophages and neutrophils).
The overarching goal of SynerCombIT is to use novel approaches in conjunction with the interference of protumoral inflammatory mediators, testing such therapeutic approaches against difficult to treat mouse cancer models.
Our primary proinflammatory targets to be neutralized are TNFalpha, CXCR1/2 chemokines, prostaglandin-E2 or/and IL-6.
SynerCombIT plans to interfere with neutrophil chemoattractant and NETosis in combination with other immunotherapy approaches.
The selected candidate will work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, participating in an innovative project that addresses fundamental questions in the field of immunotherapy.
