Predoctoral FPI contract
Research group on Neuromuscular and Mitochondrial diseases
VHIR offers a position for a Predoctoral researcher within the Research group on Neuromuscular and Mitochondrial diseases to participate in the project " Identification of factors regulating mitochondrial respiratory complex I function and stability: exploring novel opportunities for therapeutic intervention (TARGETCOMPLEX-I) ."
This contract is part of the project PID2023-147668OB-I00 , financed by MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 and by the FSE+, by the Call Formación de Personal Investigador Predoctoral (FPI) linked to a Proyecto de Generación del Conocimiento 2023.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Education and qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor's (300 ECTS credits) or Master's Degree in biomedical sciences (or equivalent)
Fluency in English (written and spoken).
Desired:
Certification as User of Laboratory Animals (certified for A, B and C functions)
Experience and knowledge:
Required:
High motivation, reliability, and initiative. Strong scientific curiosity.
Ability to work both independently and within a team.
Good organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.
Desired:
Dedicated interest in mitochondrial biology
Prior experience working with cell culture and laboratory mice
Prior experience in state-of-the-art biochemistry and molecular biology techniques.
Main responsibilities and duties:
Collaborating in the generation, management and biochemical/molecular characterization of genetically modified mice.
Designing and conducting in vivo and in vitro preclinical assays for complex I deficiency.
Writing of manuscripts and presentation of the results at local and international meetings.
Contributing to the general shared tasks of the laboratory.
Labour conditions:
Full-time position: 40h/week.
Starting date: according to the call, within the next four months.
Contract duration: 4 years (FPI grant).
Estimated annual gross salary: Salary ranges are consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale.
Expenses derived from research stays and enrollment in doctoral studies.
