Job Position:1 Pre-doctoral researcher under the framework of the TRAMPOLINe project: Position DC10About TRAMPOLINe:TRAMPOLINe is a joint academic-industrial interdisciplinary European initiative aimed at training young researchers in microbial electrochemical technologies (METs) while developing innovative solutions for global environmental challenges.
This project is funded by the European Union's Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under the Marie Sklodowska-Curie grant agreement No 101167647.Project Details:101167647 — TRAMPOLINe — HORIZON-MSCA-2023-DN-01TRAMPOLINe integrates 10 different PhD positions within the framework of microbial electrochemical technologies.
Each candidate may apply for a maximum of 4 different DC positions suitable for their profile.Objective of DC10:Enhance the performance of an existing planar-type prototype reactor for bioelectrochemical hydrogen production from industrial wastewater through a digital twin-based study.
The DC10 should design a comprehensive model addressing process limitations imposed by mass transfer, flow regime, and ohmic losses.A secondment will be held with the PhD cosupervisor Dr. Benjamin Korth for 18 months during the first and second year.
The DC will use COMSOL to combine microbial thermodynamics with mass transfer equations.Intended Starting Date: September/October 2025Duration: 36 monthsJob Position Requirements:Academic Record:Researchers must be doctoral candidates at the date of recruitment and must not already hold a doctoral degree by the deadline of the open calls.
Candidates who have defended their doctoral thesis but have not yet been awarded the degree are not eligible.
Researchers must be enrolled in a doctoral programme at UAB at the time of signing the contract.Preferred Qualifications:Chemical Engineers are preferred, though related degrees such as Mathematics, Chemistry, or other Engineering types are acceptable.
A Master's degree in relevant subjects, particularly in modelling, electrochemistry, or environmental engineering, is required.Language:An advanced level of English is required; certification is necessary, and proficiency will be assessed during the interview.
Basic knowledge of Spanish and Catalan is an added advantage.Skills:Research experience in mathematical modelling of biological processes, computational fluid dynamics, and electrochemistry is advantageous.Benefits:The employment contract includes an annual gross salary of 28,800€ + 600€/month mobility supplement + 660€/month family supplement (if applicable).Eligibility Criteria:Mobility rule: Candidates must not have resided or conducted their main activities in Spain for more than 12 months in the 36 months preceding the application deadline.
