We are looking for an experienced Regulatory & Planning Expert to join our Sustainable Energy Systems (SES) team. As part of our team, you'll have the opportunity to make a profound impact, driving the transition towards a cleaner and greener world.
Your role will be to provide invaluable guidance and strategic advice to existing and new clients in navigating the complex world of energy regulation, markets, renewable energy, and hydrogen. You will be a trusted advisor, supporting regulators, developers, investors, and energy users in making informed decisions that align with their sustainability goals.
As a Power Regulatory & Planning Expert, your main responsibilities will be:
Managing regulation, cost-benefit analysis, and strategy projects: As a senior member of the power consultancy, you will play a key role in managing, directing, or overseeing projects that not only meet client expectations but also contribute to the overall growth of the company. You will be prepared to travel to project sites globally when required, ensuring a hands-on approach and a comprehensive understanding of project requirements.
Growing our regulation, cost-benefit analysis, and strategy portfolio: Using your own track record to focus on expanding our public and private sector portfolios, with an emphasis on Northern Europe, Southern Europe, Middle East, or North America (depending on your location). This includes ensuring client satisfaction, participating in strategic decision-making, and overseeing business development activities.
Developing skills within the team: You will be proactive in developing the technical and commercial skills of more junior members of our team.

Must have:
Significant experience working at a leading consultancy, energy utility, financial institution, or similar.
University and master's degree in energy economics/economic regulation, electrical or mechanical engineering, or similar.
Demonstrated working knowledge of power markets, energy policy framework, and technical regulations.
Understanding of the complete energy ecosystem from generation, transmission, distribution, and associated infrastructure with the ability to help conceptualise overall solutions for prospective clients.
Experience and expertise with financial and/or economic analysis of renewable power and/or hydrogen projects.
Familiarity with power regulation frameworks (including power pricing & rate setting) and power market design topics.
Successful track record in project management and leading teams.
Demonstrated experience in client-facing positions.
Proven experience in business development and pipeline growth.
Ability to communicate with all sorts of clients and convey complex technical problems to technical and non-technical audiences.
Native or professional-level competence in English.
Desirable but not essential:
Understanding and experience with energy system modelling and use of least-cost planning and least-cost dispatch tools (such as PLEXOS).
Advanced analytical and quantitative skills, with an aptitude for complex quantitative analysis, statistics, and use of large data sets.
Experience with multilateral banks and IFIs.
Demonstrated prior experience working on renewable energy development projects with solid experience or skill sets to define concept to commissioning requirements.
Experience of renewable power resource assessment, identification of optimum mix (solar, wind, BESS, Hydro etc.), with the ability to define overall system configuration best suited for deployment considering comprehensive techno-economic evaluation.
