It takes the brightest minds to be a technology leader. It takes imagination to create green energy for the generations to come. At Siemens Gamesa, we make real what matters; join our global team.
Siemens Gamesa is part of Siemens Energy, a global leader in energy technology with a rich legacy of innovation spanning over 150 years. Together, we are committed to making sustainable, reliable, and affordable energy a reality by pushing the boundaries of what is possible. As a leading player in the wind industry and manufacturer of wind turbines, we are passionate about driving the energy transition and providing innovative solutions that meet the growing energy demand of the global community. At Siemens Gamesa, we are constantly seeking talented individuals to join our team and support our focus on energy transformation.
Find out how you can make a difference at Siemens Gamesa: We are looking for a Power System and Converter Control engineer to join our Grid Connection department.
How to contribute to our vision: Development of Wind Turbine and/or Wind Farms Regulator electrical simulation models in Electromagnetic Transient models with specific features (snapshot, encryption, multi-run). Develop converter control algorithms for grid features. Integrate DLLs or automatic generated code. Test model performance and analyze results. Provide inputs to other departments. Assess model performance against WTG capabilities. Modelling issues analysis. Documentation of activities:
Design report Validation reports User manuals Develop automation tools so that they can run simulations and create reports automatically. What you need to make a difference: Technical Knowledge: Power System engineering:
Transmission and distribution networks Grid elements (power transformers, power cables, reactive power compensation devices, protection and distribution of MV grids...) Power electronics Electrical machines Harmonics analysis Converter Control engineering:
Power electronic converter design and control Control theory and application Power electronic drives, vector current control, Pulse Width Modulation Grid Forming control systems Real-time embedded control and implementation Power System studies:
Transient stability (mainly LVRT and OVRT) Electromagnetic transients simulation (EMT) Dynamic studies (response to grid events or changes in power plant set points) Simulation and modeling of control and electrical systems Small Signal Stability analysis of power systems Software skills: PSCAD: Very important to have knowledge about the Fortran compilers, compatibility issues, and encryption techniques. Creation and integration of compiled code (DLLs) into simulation tools allowing advanced features: multirun, multi-instance, and snapshot features. Fortran and C programming MATLAB and Simulink RSCAD (software package) – Real Time Digital Simulator Simulation & Modeling: Wind turbines, desirable experience with type-3 and type-4 technologies for transient stability studies. Wind power plants; or at least renewable energy power plants in which multiple components need to be controlled at the same time to match the references or needs at the point of common coupling. Renewable systems: mainly wind turbines, but also PV and BESS. Algorithms to control power plants, mainly wind turbines, power converters, and/or renewable energy power plants. Experience with hybrid power plants will be a plus. Other skills: Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate technical topics clearly and concisely. Self-motivated with the ability to take the initiative in finding innovative solutions to complex technical challenges. It is important that you are a dedicated team player, and you thrive in a multi-cultural environment – just as you possess fluency in spoken and written English. In return for your commitment we offer you: Become a part of our mission for sustainability: Clean energy for generations to come. We are a global team of diverse colleagues who share a passion for renewable energy and have a culture of trust and empowerment to make our own ideas a reality. We focus on personal and professional development to grow internally within our organization. Siemens Gamesa offers a wide variety of benefits such as flexible working hours as well as home-office possibility for many colleagues, employer-funded pension, attractive remuneration package (fixed/variable), and local benefits such as subsidized lunch, employee discounts, and much more.
Empowering our people: How do you imagine the future? Our global team is on the front line of tackling the climate crisis, reducing carbon emissions – the greatest challenge we face.
