The Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Villa research group. This position will be funded by the European Research Council – ERC project "PhotoSwim".

Description of the project: Photo-rechargeable Nanomotors for antimicrobial photodynamic therapy
Responsibilities Design and characterization of photoactive nanomotors. Characterization of the generation of ROS by photoluminescence and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR). Evaluation of the antimicrobial and antibiofilm activity of the nanomotors. Screening of the stability and (cito-)toxicity of the nanomotors by MTT, Resazurin tests, colorimetric and luminescent commercial kits. Write reports and scientific articles. Present research findings at internal meetings and conferences. Provide guidance and support to students and team members. Manage and monitor lab safety. Requirements: PhD in Microbiology and or Nanotechnology. Knowledge of spectroscopic techniques and hands-on experience on fluorescence microscopy. Proven experience in photodynamic therapy assays. Excellent communication and organizational skills Ability to present the results the results of research in scientific journals and in international congresses and also to non-scientific audience is a must. Proven excellent knowledge of English. S/He should be motivated, open-minded, highly dynamic, and capable of working in a team, making decisions, solving problems, and creative thinking. Strong commitment for scientific research in a competitive environment. We offer: A 3-year full-time contract. Remuneration according to individual's qualification/experience.
