This position will be funded by ERC Starting Grant.

ICIQ is looking for a motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to work in the group of Dr. Jose Berrocal.
The successful candidate will work on synthesis and mechanical characterization of photo- and mechano-responsive polymer materials.
Responsibilities Thermal and mechanical characterization of polymer materials with dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), rheology, tensile testing, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermal gravimetric anaylsis (TGA) Assist the supervisor in the daily supervision of the PhD students Synthesis of small molecules and polymers to be used for sensing applications Study the photo- and mechano-responsive behavior of polymers with setups combining microtensile testing and optical probes measuring transmittance spectra Production of written reports and presentations to update the group/supervisor Requirements PhD in Chemistry or Materials science Level of English equal to B2 or higher Prior experience with rheology Ability to work independently and in teams Valued qualities: Willigness to undergo a robust training in soft skills and mentoring Active participation in discussion meetings and brainstorming sessions Willigness to coach/collaborate with PhD students Willigness to contribute in project writing We offer: A 3-year full-time position.
Remuneration according to individual's qualifications/experience Annual salary split in twelve monthly payments Incorporation: February 2025.
