Description IMDEA Energy is opening a Postdoctoral Researcher Position for the Electrochemical Processes Unit, looking for talented and motivated candidates to work on solar rechargeable redox flow batteries.
The position is associated with the European project Light-cap (https://fetprolightcap.eu/) (Multi-Electron Processes for Light Driven Electrodes and Electrolytes in Conversion and Storage of Solar Energy) funded by the European Innovation Council (EIC). In this project we aim to develop Solar Rechargeable Redox Flow Batteries, a new type of devices that integrate solar energy conversion and electrochemical storage.
The research group is very international and therefore most of the work will be conducted in English. A good level of Spanish is also advisable but is not a requirement.
Tasks Description: R&D on Photoelectrochemistry and Electrochemical Energy StorageDevelopment of photoelectrodes and organic redox electrolytes and their characterization.Optimization of photoelectrochemical reactors for solar redox flow batteries.Establishing a suitable characterization procedure for the complete characterization of solar batteries under illumination conditions.Understand the fundamental aspects of interfaces between the photoelectrode and the redox electrolyte under illumination.Participation in national and international research projects in Electrochemical Energy Storage.Dissemination and publication of research results in scientific journals, and reports.Supervision of PhD, Master and undergraduate students. Requirements Compulsory Requirements Ph.D. degree in Electrochemistry, Materials, Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering or similar.Knowledge on Electrochemistry and/or Photoelectrochemistry.Hands-on experience on electrochemistry, batteries or photoelectrochemical cells.Oral and written communication skills in English (B2) Other merits to value: Experience in Battery technology and good understanding of the physical processes involved in their operation.Specific training or hands-on experience with electrochemical energy storage devices and electrochemical characterization.Specific training or hands-on experience with redox flow batteries. Selection Criteria Adequacy of the candidate's training to the requested profile.Work experience related to the profile of the job position.Knowledge of English.Motivation for accomplishing high-quality research. Conditions Remuneration: Between 38.000 € – 41.000€ per year, depending upon qualification and expertise.

Duration of the contract: Until the end of the project- 31st December 2025
