NoOffer Description Job position:The Geography Department and the GEMOTT research group at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) are offering a fully-funded two-year postdoctoral position within the ATRAPA project. This initiative, supported by the European Research Council, seeks to address the "active travel backlash paradox" by identifying the factors that shape public opposition and acceptability towards Built Environment-based Sustainable Travel Interventions. Using highly disaggregated data on urban interventions and electoral data, part I of the project will use local election results in 8 European cities to test electoral support for political parties and leaders that are responsible for the implementation of transformative urbanism interventions.The postdoctoral researcher will participate at a senior level in the project's conceptual and analytical development, co-supervise doctoral students, and contribute to coordinating the implementation of the project's core outcomes. The successful applicant will become core members of the GEMOTT team (which will include the Principal Investigator, 4 postdoctoral researchers, 8 PhD students, and two Research Assistants), will be based at UAB's Geography Department and work within ICTA-UAB. Candidates are expected to live and work in the Barcelona area.Job position requirements (skills/languages/required experience):PhD related to geography, social sciences, environmental sciences, political science or economics. Expertise in urban planning and statistical analysis, proficiency in English (additional European languages are a plus), and a demonstrated track record in mobility research and collaborative project work.The postdoctoral researcher will be tasked with the following activities:Formulating a conceptual framework focused on the determinants of public acceptability and opposition to spatial urban interventions associated with active transportation, such as superblocks, low-traffic neighborhoods, and compact city initiatives.Collaborating in the development of an extensive database that integrates urban environmental interventions and census area electoral outcomes within the project's study locales (Barcelona, Milan, Ljubljana, Warsaw, Utrecht, Malmö, and Paris)
