Postdoctoral Researcher in Surface Electrochemistry: The PECAS Lab at the Faculty of Chemistry, UPV/EHU, San Sebastian, Spain, is seeking a motivated and talented postdoctoral researcher to join our team. The position, starting in October 2024, offers a unique opportunity to conduct cutting-edge experimental research in surface electrochemistry within the ERC Starting Grant project "Controlling Oxygen Selectivity at the Atomic Scale" (COSAS). The initial contract is for one year, with the possibility of a one-year extension.Designation: Postdoctoral ResearcherResearch Area: Surface Electrochemistry, Ultra-high Vacuum Techniques, Scanning Probe MicroscopyLocation: PECAS Lab, Faculty of Chemistry, UPV/EHU, San Sebastian, Basque Country, SpainA PhD degree in Physics, Chemistry, or a closely related field .Extensive experience with ultra-high vacuum (UHV) techniques and low-temperature scanning probe microscopy (STM/nc-AFM) is required.Knowledge of electrochemical methods and/or X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) is an advantage.Job Description:The selected candidate will engage in experimental research focusing on surface electrochemistry. The work will involve studying layered materials (such as graphene and MoSe2) under ultra-high vacuum conditions using advanced techniques like scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and spectroscopy (STS) at low temperatures (4K). The goal is to establish a direct correlation between quasi-in situ surface characterization and the atomic-scale structural and electronic properties of catalysts, with an emphasis on improving reaction selectivity in water electrolysis. The research insights will be further correlated with quasi-in situ NAP-XPS experiments to develop a comprehensive understanding of the electrode-electrolyte interface under realistic electrochemical conditions. How to Apply:Interested candidates should submit their applications to Dr. Sara Barja via email in one single PDF document. The subject line should read "COSAS-Postdoc application." The application should include:A cover letter outlining your interest in the position.A short description of previous research (1-2 pages).Contact information for at least two academic references.Last Date for Application: October 1, 2024 (Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis upon arrival).Join us in pushing the boundaries of surface electrochemistry at the atomic scale! You have entered an incorrect email address! Please enter your email address here#J-18808-Ljbffr
