Context And Mission
The Computational Biology group is looking for a senior postdoctoral researcher specialized in multiscale cellular simulations. This role focuses on leveraging high-performance computing to develop advanced biomedical applications.
The selected candidate will develop and apply modeling and simulation techniques to biological networks, forecasting the effects of alterations and drug treatments on system dynamics. The candidate will work on the integration of cellular systems with organ-level simulations, contributing to the creation of digital twins in the biomedical area.
The funding for these actions comes from the European Union Recovery and Resilience Facility - Next Generation.
Key Duties Development of AI/ML novel approaches for adaptive parameter space search for extreme model exploration. Optimization-based approaches for robust parameter estimation, model calibration, and uncertainty quantification. Integration of heterogeneous data sources using advanced data mining techniques. Preparation and presentation of scientific articles and project proposals. Establish and maintain collaborations with international researchers. Develop new research lines in the context of the group's interests. Requirements Education
PhD in computer science, bioinformatics, or similar with a strong background in AI/ML. Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
At least 3 years of postdoctoral experience in the same or a related area. Proven excellent scientific publication track record in the same or a related area. Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
Knowledge and experience in life sciences research. Knowledge and experience in AI methodologies: Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in Spanish and other European languages would be advantageous. Competences
Capacity to explore new research lines. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Ability to work both independently and in a team. Conditions The position will be located at BSC within the Life Sciences Department. We offer a full-time contract (37.5h/week), a good working environment, flexible working hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance. Duration: 4 years. Holidays: 23 paid vacation days plus 24th and 31st of December per our collective agreement. Salary: 55.000,00 €. Starting date: asap - the incorporation for this vacancy must be before the 16th of December 2024.
