The mission of BSC is to research, develop and manage information technologies to facilitate scientific progress.Context And MissionThe Global Health Resilience (GHR) group is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to co-create innovative modelling tools for impact attribution of climate-related health risks.
The selected candidate will work within the Wellcome Trust funded project TACTIC (HealTh ImpAct ToolkIt for Climate change attribution).
The project aims to deliver a user-friendly digital toolkit for policymakers, researchers, and other professionals.Key DutiesCo-design innovative methodologies for impact attribution of climate-related health risksHarmonise multi-source, multi-scale climate, land-type, demographic, socio-economic, human movement and health datasetsFormulate statistical, machine learning and mathematical models to understand the impact of environmental change and socio-economic factors on infectious disease risk and health outcomesDevelop indicators to track the impact of climate change on multiple health outcomesContribute to the development of open-source modelling tools, e.g.
R packagesIncorporate aspects of inequalities, inequities and injustices in quantitative researchContribute to health impact stories and communication materialsDisseminate research outputs in peer-reviewed scientific papers and international conferencesEngage with local communities, stakeholders and policymakersDevelop training materials and deliver training workshopsRequirementsEducation: BSc and MSc in relevant fields; PhD in infectious disease epidemiology or related field.Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience: Experience in data management, statistical analyses, strong programming skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.ConditionsThe position will be located at BSC within the Earth Sciences Department.
