ISGlobal is accredited with the Severo Ochoa distinction, a seal of excellence of the Spanish Science Ministry.LocationBarcelona, Campus Clinic-CEKWHAT WE ARE LOOKING FORISGlobal is seeking a postdoctoral researcher who is interested in taking over and managing activities of the project "Development of Protein Aggregation Inhibitor Compounds as Novel Antileishmanial and Antiplasmodial Agents". The overall project goal is the testing in parasite cultures of new drugs against Leishmania and Plasmodium parasites that are being developed in the Nanomalaria Group at ISGlobal, including the encapsulation of these active agents in liposomes designed for targeted drug delivery.TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONSDegree, Master and PhD in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Pharmacology or related fields.High level of English.Training in public health issues.SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTSExperience in cell cultures, including the culture of parasites like Plasmodium or Leishmania.Experience in the encapsulation of drugs in immunoliposomes.Experience in the development of DNA aptamers.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESTesting of new potential antimalarial and antileishmanial compounds in parasite cultures.Encapsulation of these new compounds in immunoliposomes, eventually to be targeted to parasite cells with specific DNA aptamers developed within the project.Cytotoxicity assays of these new compounds.AUXILIARY TASKSThis job description reflects the present requirements of the post but may evolve at any time in the future as duties and responsibilities change and/or develop providing there is appropriate consultation with the post-holder. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for structural or transversal positions.In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process. After reviewing the content of the applications, the panel will start the interviews, with at least one technical and one administrative interview.
