The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR ISGlobal is seeking a postdoctoral researcher who is interested in taking over and managing activities of the project "Development of Protein Aggregation Inhibitor Compounds as Novel Antileishmanial and Antiplasmodial Agents". The overall project goal is the testing in parasite cultures of new drugs against Leishmania and Plasmodium parasites that are being developed in the Nanomalaria Group at ISGlobal, including the encapsulation of these active agents in liposomes designed for targeted drug delivery.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS Degree, Master and PhD in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Pharmacology or related fields.
High level of English.
Training in public health issues.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS Experience in cell cultures, including the culture of parasites like Plasmodium or Leishmania.
Experience in the encapsulation of drugs in immunoliposomes.
Experience in the development of DNA aptamers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Testing of new potential antimalarial and antileishmanial compounds in parasite cultures.
Encapsulation of these new compounds in immunoliposomes, eventually to be targeted to parasite cells with specific DNA aptamers developed within the project.
Cytotoxicity assays of these new compounds.

SELECTION PROCESS The selection process is designed in two phases:
1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation to assess the person's skills and CV.
2 - Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.
If needed, any technical test could be passed. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for structural or transversal positions.
