It houses MareNostrum, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe, and aims to facilitate scientific progress through research, development, and management of information technologies.
BSC combines HPC service provision and RD into both computer and computational science under one roof, currently employing over 1000 staff from 60 countries.

Context And Mission The Computational Social Science and Humanities program envisions preparing the social sciences and humanities for the era of data, artificial intelligence (AI), and Exascale supercomputing.
Our mission is to foster collaboration between social scientists and computer scientists, making high-performance computing (HPC) accessible to all researchers in the field.
Through innovative approaches, we aim to apply social science research to contribute valuable insights for informed policymaking.
As a postdoctoral researcher for the Digital Media and Politics lab, you will play a pivotal role in advancing research on social media and public opinion using novel computational methods, reporting to Dr. Laia Castro and Dr. Mercè Crosas.
The funding for these actions comes from the European Union Recovery and Resilience Facility - Next Generation.
Key Duties Conduct original research on the impact of digital media use on political attitudes, cognitions, and behaviors.
Coordination and assistance of data collection and analysis.
Guiding team members in applying computational methods to their research.
Leadership in writing grant proposals and co-authoring research papers.
Assistance in team coordination and PhD supervision.
Communication of project results at conferences and workshops.
Organization of expert workshops, conferences, and seminars.
Collaboration with members from other disciplines will be encouraged.
Travel internationally to engage with relevant scientific communities.
Requirements Education: PhD in the social sciences or computational (social) science.
Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience: Experience in quantitative empirical analysis and computational methods.
Familiarity with online experiments, machine learning, and text analysis.
Experience in collecting online behavioral data.
Experience in analyzing and integrating large datasets.
Programming skills in R, Python, or similar languages.
Interest in researching social media use and public opinion.
Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience: Experience with server management and data donation tools is an advantage.
Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in Spanish and other languages is advantageous.
Competences: A scientific mindset and capacity for independent work.
Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work in a team and in a multi-cultural environment.
Conditions Full-time contract (37.5h/week), good working environment, flexible hours, private health insurance.
