Job Title: PhD Research Scientist - Oncology We are seeking a skilled and motivated PhD Research Scientist specializing in oncology. As part of our cutting-edge research team, you will contribute to the development of innovative cancer therapies, working in a collaborative environment focused on advancing our understanding of cancer biology and treatment.
Education and qualifications: Ph.D. in a relevant field such as Biology, Pharmacology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related discipline. Fluency in Catalan, Spanish, and English. Experience and knowledge: A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in a research laboratory, specifically in oncology studies based on drug development and animal models. Proficiency in working with cell culture, molecular biology, animal models, particularly murine models, and experience in designing and executing in vitro and in vivo experiments to study tumor growth, metastasis, and therapeutic efficacy. Main responsibilities and duties: Design and Execution of in vitro Experiments: Develop, design, and execute in vitro molecular biology experiments to study cancer progression, metastasis, and therapeutic responses. Plan and coordinate experiments to assess the efficacy and safety of novel oncology treatments. Data Collection and Analysis: Collect, manage, and analyze experimental data accurately and efficiently. Perform statistical analysis of results to validate findings, drawing meaningful conclusions to support ongoing research objectives. Animal Model Management and Care: Ensure proper care, handling, and management of animal models, adhering to all ethical guidelines and protocols. Monitor animal health and welfare throughout studies, providing appropriate interventions as necessary. Documentation and Reporting: Document experimental procedures, observations, and results in detail according to laboratory standards. Prepare written reports and presentations to communicate findings as well as applications to funding grants. Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with other scientists and researchers across departments, integrating in vivo results with in vitro findings for comprehensive project insights. Participate in cross-functional project meetings to discuss experimental plans, challenges, and results. Compliance and Laboratory Safety: Adhere to all institutional, local, and national guidelines regarding animal research and laboratory safety. Ensure all work complies with regulatory and ethical standards, including preparation for internal and external audits. Research Innovation and Problem Solving: Stay updated on the latest advancements in oncology and animal research, suggesting and implementing innovative techniques and methodologies. Identify and troubleshoot challenges in experimental protocols to ensure the highest quality of research output. Training and Mentorship: Assist in training new staff, interns, or junior researchers in laboratory procedures, animal handling, and data analysis. Provide mentorship and guidance on best practices and ethical considerations in oncology research. Labour conditions: Full-time position: 40h/week. Starting date: 1 December 2024. Gross annual salary: Remuneration will depend on experience and skills. Salary ranges are consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale. Type of Contract: Post-doctoral. What can we offer?
