Experiencia
Candidates must have a PhD in Physics at the time of the application, and a strong interest in neutrino physics. The job functions are:
Participate in the commissioning and data taking with the SBND experiment at Fermilab.
Develop the reconstruction and data analysis of liquid argon scintillation light.
Develop the event reconstruction and data analysis for searches for BSM physics.
Otros
The SBND experiment is a liquid-argon TPC detector located close to the origin of the Booster Neutrino Beam at Fermilab, the main particle physics laboratory of the USA. SBND physics program includes searches for sterile-neutrino oscillations, neutrino-argon cross-section measurements and searches for Beyond Standard Model (BSM) physics. The CIEMAT group leads the search for BSM physics, and the data analysis of innovative sensors to detect liquid argon scintillation light. SBND began operations in 2024, and the candidate will have the opportunity to participate in the commissioning and analyze the first data from the experiment.
The position is based at CIEMAT (Madrid, Spain). Research stays at Fermilab (USA) are possible.
Funding is available until the end of 2025. The successful candidate will also be supported to apply for a Juan de la Cierva 2024 Postdoctoral Fellowship from the Spanish Research Agency to continue their research with the group.
The deadline for applications is November 25th, 2024. The official call and application instructions are published at the CIEMAT Job Openings website.
For further information or assistance with the application process, interested candidates are encouraged to contact José I. Crespo-Anadón (******).
