.We are seeking a talented and motivated junior postdoc to join a research team headed by Dr. Anna Duarri and Dr. Miguel Zapata at the Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR). The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on cell therapy to treat retinal diseases such as retinitis pigmentosa or age-related macular degeneration using retinal organoids as a model. The major research focus is on restoring retinal function in animal models. Education and qualifications: Required: PhD in the field of Life Sciences (Biological Sciences, Biomedical Sciences..) Animal Experimentation Certificate Experience and knowledge: Required: Experience with small laboratory animals Communication skills and fluency in written and spoken English Ophthalmological techniques will be positively valued Experience in stem cells and organoids Experience in molecular and cellular biology techniques Desired: Interest in learning, able to work independently, critical thinking Good computer skills, basic knowledge of bioinformatics and statistical analysis Teamwork, proactivity (ability to work independently when necessary), and well organized and responsible individual in the workplace. Main responsibilities and duties: Work with human stem cells and organoid systems Development of cell therapies, animal surgery, and in vivo monitoring related to ophthalmology Work with laboratory animals Gain experience in grant proposal and manuscript writing Labour conditions: Full-time position: 40h/week Starting date: Immediate Gross annual salary: 24.785,40 euros (Remuneration will depend on experience and skills.
