Postdoc Position In Computing, Barcelona, Spain

Detalles de la oferta

Postdoc Position in Computing: A Postdoctoral position in High Performance Computing (HPC) is available at Barcelona, focusing on the development of computational methods for simulating thermally coupled magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flows in complex geometries. This role is crucial for advancing fusion reactor technologies, with the aim of contributing to the global shift towards sustainable, carbon-free energy production. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing computational methods for shape optimization based on MHD flow evaluation, utilizing the Julia programming language and the Gridap ecosystem.
Designation: Post Doc – From PDOC 3 to PDOC 1
Research Area: High Performance Computing, Computational Mechanics, Magnetohydrodynamics (MHD), Fusion Reactor Technologies, Computational Mathematics, Shape Optimization
Location: Barcelona
Minimum Qualifications: PhD in applied mathematics or engineering related to computational mechanics, computational mathematics, optimization, or statistics.Programming experience in scientific computing.Writing and communication skills for scientific articles and presentations.Job Description: Develop High Performance Computing methods for simulating thermally coupled MHD flows in complex geometries.Focus on shape optimization based on MHD flows evaluation for fusion reactor technologies.Implement fully monolithic solution schemes for strongly-coupled problems associated with strong magnetic fields.Utilize embedded finite element methods for the discretization of complex blanket geometries.Develop new shape and optimization methods to optimize critical outputs of MHD flow, such as pressure drop.Implement methods in the Julia programming language, using the Gridap ecosystem.Release developed methods as free and open source, exploiting HPC resources.Collaborate with the Fusion technology department at CIEMAT to apply the resulting code, GridapMHD.jl, for real-world breeding blanket concepts.Required Skills: PhD in applied mathematics or engineering.Programming experience in scientific computing.Writing and communication skills for scientific articles and presentations.Advanced programming skills (distributed parallel programming, object-oriented, and/or functional programming).Experience in finite element modeling, uncertainty quantification, optimization, adjoint solvers, automatic differentiation, machine learning, (non)linear multilevel solvers. How to Apply:
