JOB DESCRIPTION Metropolis is seeking an experienced Policy Officer to join our dynamic Policy team.
In this role, you'll drive innovative urban policy solutions, conduct research, and foster collaboration with global stakeholders to future-proof large cities.
Main responsibilities Conduct in-depth research on emerging trends in urban policy, providing actionable insights to guide Metropolis' strategies and initiatives.
Develop a wide range of impactful materials, including working papers, policy briefs, case studies, and reports, addressing topics such as metropolitan governance, urban foresight, and future-proofing cities.
Lead efforts to improve data quality and comparability across the network, enhancing flagship resources like Metro Futures to ensure data and tools remain cutting-edge and relevant to address urban challenges.
Organise and facilitate policy dialogues and capacity-building sessions on urban issues for Metropolis members and partners.
Build strategic partnerships with leading organisations, unlocking new funding opportunities to support impactful projects.
Represent Metropolis at conferences, workshops, and other forums.
Qualifications Advanced degree in Urban Studies, Social Sciences, International Relations, Economics, or another relevant discipline.
5+ years of relevant experience in policy development, research, or related fields, ideally within urban governance or international policy contexts.
Proven expertise in designing, managing, and evaluating projects, with a track record of delivering impactful initiatives.
Strong analytical and research skills, with a demonstrated ability to synthesise complex information and draw meaningful conclusions.
Excellent communication and writing skills in English are indispensable.
Fluency in Spanish, French, and/or another of the official languages of +5 Metropolis members (e.G.
Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Indonesian, Korean, Portuguese, or Turkish) is highly desirable.
Experience working with international organisations and city governments is a strong advantage.

WHAT METROPOLIS OFFERS Full-time (37.5 hours per week) with flexible hours.
Location: 70% on-site at the Secretariat General HQ in Barcelona and 30% online.
Estimated start date: 15 February 2025.
