It has the potential to tailor therapy with the best response and highest safety margin to ensure better patient care. Open challenges demand the search for novel analytical systems for early diagnosis, remote monitoring, or even remote therapy of individuals. In this work, the requirements of a novel early diagnosis and monitoring device platform, automated, connected, and compact for point of care or hospital use will be investigated. Research will be carried out in novel printed sensors devices to monitor clinical target parameters, integration in microfluidic systems with controlled, dynamic microenvironments to control sampling, and to prepare validation organ-on-chip systems, where cultured cells exhibit functions that emulate organ-level physiology. Understanding miniaturization rules and segmenting biochemical operations to deploy a universal platform that will serve to study different clinical case studies in collaboration with hospitals and research groups. The result of this work aims to open new insights in the advanced personalized medicine tools, such as cost efficiency, parallelization, ergonomics, diagnostic speed, and sensitivity.Functions and Responsibilities:Evaluating the state of the art of the PhD topic. The student will learn about printing techniques for the development of a multiplex sensing platform.Physical and chemical characterization of materials and/or printed sensors (electrical, optical, and morphological characterization techniques).Fabricate monolithic microfluidic devices using rapid prototyping techniques.Designing with CAD software or similar.Requirements:Studies and Knowledge:Holding a bachelor's degree and a master in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Material Science, Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Biology or Biotechnology.Basic knowledge on how to work in a chemistry lab is required.Experience in sensors development and characterization (optical, electrochemical, etc.) will be considered.Knowledge in Lab on Chip will be considered.Soft Skills:The person who will join the team should be a team player and can build collaborative relationships.He/She should be able to work in a multidisciplinary team
