Offer Description Applications are invited by the UNIVERSITY OF ALICANTE PRESIDENT for a fixed-term contractual position as a junior research position to collaborate in the project "NEL-VIVES, Language Technology Plan for the Valencian language." Reference: I-PI 86-24
Project 2022/TL22/00215334 funded by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation and by the European Union NextGenerationEU/ PRTR.
First. Number of job vacancies and employment conditions of the contract:
Number of job vacancies: one.
Job position: PhD Junior Researcher.
Working hours: partial commitment of 20h/week in morning/afternoon sessions.
Remuneration: €1,145.16 gross/monthly (plus extra payments in accordance with current regulations).
Estimated duration of the contract: 6 months.
In accordance with the provisions of the agreement of the Governing Council of 27 January 2022, which approves the University of Alicante 4th Plan for equal opportunities between women and men, it is hereby stated that there is no under-representation of either gender in the category of PhD Junior Researcher.
Second. Purpose.
The successful candidate will collaborate in the research project "NEL-VIVES, Language Technology Plan for the Valencian language (2022/TL22/00215334)" performing the following tasks:
Development of artificial intelligence in Spanish and co-official languages.
Generation of language models.
Proposal of novel methods to address tasks related to language technologies, such as bias detection and mitigation.
Drafting of reports and writing scientific articles.
Participation in project-related meetings.
Other tasks related to Language Technologies and to the objectives of the Nel-VIVES project.
Third. Job profile
Preference will be given to:
Those with experience and training related to the tasks mentioned above, specifically in bias detection and mitigation in language models and information classification.
Proficiency in English.
Qualifications:
University degree related to Informatics or Computer Science.
Master's degree related to Informatics or Computer Science.
PhD programme in Computer Science or in another equivalent programme.
Fourth. Requirements for applicants
Hold or be in the process of obtaining a PhD degree certificate.
Be a Spanish national or meet the conditions listed in article 57 of Royal Legislative Decree 5/2015.
Be at least 16 years of age and not exceed the maximum compulsory retirement age.
Possess the physical and mental capacities necessary for the performance of the corresponding functions.
Must not have been dismissed by disciplinary proceedings from any Public Administration.
