Offer DescriptionApplications are invited by the University of Alicante President for an open-ended contractual position as a PhD junior researcher to collaborate with the funded line of research "Analysis of Earth's rotation using geodetic VLBI observations". Reference: I-PI 147-24.
First. Number of vacancies and features of the job vacancy1.1. Number of job vacancies: one.
1.2. Job position: PhD junior researcher.
1.3. Funded line of research: "Analysis of Earth's rotation using geodetic VLBI observations".
1.4. Working hours: 37.5 hours/week in morning/afternoon sessions.
1.5. Remuneration: €2,900 gross/monthly (plus extra payments in accordance with current regulations).
Second. First project/research group in which the successful applicant will collaborate2.1. Name of the research group: Space Geodesy and Space Dynamics.
At the end of the duration of this first collaboration with the research group or its budgetary availability, the successful applicant may join other projects within the same line of research specified above.
2.2. Dept. / Institute: Department of Applied Mathematics.
2.3. Tasks to be carried out: Calculating the global solution to Earth orientation parameters based on VLBI observations made until 31-12-2024, consistent with conventional celestial and terrestrial reference frames currently in place.Third. Job profilePreference will be given to applicants with:
Experience and training related to the tasks specified in the second section of this call and to:Astronomical and geodetic observation techniques: Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI).Experience in the processing and analysis of VLBI observations, preferably gained through activities conducted at VLBI data analysis centres recognised by the IVS (International VLBI Service for Geodesy and Astrometry).Experience in calculating global solutions to Earth orientation parameters based on VLBI data.Geodesy and geomatics.Operations, analysis and research related to the VLBI technique in accordance with the IVS's standards and objectives.Qualification:Undergraduate degrees (Spanish MECES level 2 or EQF level 6) and official Master's degrees (Spanish MECES level 3 or EQF level 7) in the field of geodesy, topography and geomatics.PhD (Spanish MECES level 4 or EQF level 8) in the field of space geodesy.Fourth. Requirements for applicantsCompliance with the requirements listed below must always refer to the date of expiry of the deadline for the submission of applications and must be maintained until the date of entering into the contract. Applicants must:
Hold or be in the process of obtaining a PhD degree certificate (Spanish MECES level 4 or EQF level 8). Applicants who are not in possession of the degree certificate must provide proof of payment of the diploma issuing fee or submit an academic certificate stating that they have completed all the studies leading to the award of said certificate.Be a Spanish national or be in one of the situations listed in article 57 of Royal Legislative Decree 5/2015, of 30 October, which approves the revised text of the Act on the Basic Statute of Public Employees (BOE of 31 October). In the case established in point 4 of this article, when entering into the employment contract, the successful applicant must be a legal resident in Spain.Be at least 16 years of age and not exceed the maximum compulsory retirement age.Possess the physical and mental capacities and aptitudes that are necessary for the performance of the corresponding functions or tasks, for which, prior to the signing of the contract, a medical certificate must be provided certifying the possession of said capacities and aptitudes. For these purposes, medical examinations may be carried out through the medical assistance provided by the University of Alicante Occupational Health Service.Not have been dismissed by disciplinary proceedings from the service of any of the Public Administrations or of the constitutional or statutory bodies of the Spanish Autonomous Regions, nor have been totally or specially disqualified for public employment by a court decision, for access to the civil service, or to perform duties similar to those performed by non-tenured staff in public administrations, in which they had been dismissed or disqualified. Nationals of another State must not be in a situation of disqualification or equivalent, nor have been subjected to a disciplinary or equivalent sanction that prevents, under the same terms, access to public employment in the relevant State.Not a civil servant
