Position: Experienced Scientific EU Project Manager The Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) offers a vacant position for an experienced Scientific EU Project Manager in the Research Group on Rare Anemias Disorders in Barcelona, who will lead the delivery of several high-impact research projects, particularly GenoMed4All (Genomics and Personalized Medicine for all through Artificial Intelligence in Haematological Diseases) and SYNTHEMA (Synthetic generation of hematological data over federated computing frameworks), both funded by the European Union in the frame of the Horizon Europe Programme.
GenoMed4All supports the pooling of genomic, clinical data, and other "-omics" health data through a secure and privacy-respectful data sharing platform based on the novel Federated Learning scheme, to advance research in personalized medicine in haematological diseases thanks to advanced novel Artificial Intelligence (AI) models and standardized sharing of cross-border data.
Building upon the results of this project, SYNTHEMA aims to establish a privacy-preserving, cross-border hub to develop and validate innovative AI models for clinical data anonymisation and synthetic data generation in rare hematological diseases.
Job Description Education and Qualifications: University degree in area of science (i.e.
Biomedical Sciences, Biology, Statistics/Informatics in Health Sciences) Master / PhD (or 5 years of proven expertise in the area) Fluent (spoken and written) English Experience and Knowledge: Demonstrated experience leading the delivery of scientific projects falling in the scope of Artificial Intelligence/Personalized medicine Ability to write reports on activities performed, including scientific reports and publications An analytical mindset with problem-solving skills An easy-going person with human qualities, able to take responsibility and lead an area Ability to work effectively with a dynamic team and to work independently with tight deadlines Desired: Experience/knowledge in the management of EU projects Experience in the field of hematology Main Responsibilities and Duties: Lead the delivery strategy of various scientific projects, ensuring the links between them and seizing opportunities for developing the stream of work related to these projects.
Coordinate the various project members involved (Medical doctors, platform developers, statisticians) in executing the projects, according to project plans and making sure deadlines are met.
Be the face of the projects for international partners, participating in project meetings.
Drafting scientific reports and deliverables for Sponsors.
Preparing and delivering presentations at different scientific meetings (occasional travel in the European Union will be required).
