POSITION PURPOSE: Responsible for the North and South American markets. The role is in charge of developing and maintaining key MICE, High-end leisure, Special corporate (Groups & Transient), Wholesales and Entertainment accounts through attendance at travel and related industry meetings, trade shows, personal sales calls and sales blitz actions. The person is highly motivated, organized, and enjoys interacting with guests. This position requires a high degree of self-motivation and the ability to work unsupervised using own initiative. Monitoring and Follow up of Sales Strategies within the mentioned different segments, focusing on MICE and Transient Leisure and Special Corporate. Assisting the Head of External Sales in the preparation of account sales strategies and sales intensity plans. Proactively uncovering new prospects and maximizing conversion of business in line with Hotel's budgetary goals. Ensuring the maintenance and the development of contracted accounts in all mentioned segments. The responsibilities include maintaining relationships with key accounts and sourcing new business opportunities. The Sales Manager is required to solicit group & corporate business through telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, site inspections. Conduct Site Inspections and organizes Familiarization Trips whilst assisting with projects and reports. Participate in daily departmental meetings, trainings and other sales related meetings as required.
Works with other departments within the hotel and key contacts at Marriott International Global Sales Office locations to provide quality service to customers. Develops and maintains knowledge of market trends, competition set and customers. Forms part of the External (proactive) sales team. Supervises and trains the trainees.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Under the guidance of the Head of External Sales, responsible for maximizing Rooms / F&B / Conference and Banqueting business from the Americas markets.Proactively uncovering new prospects and maximizing conversion of business.Looks after Corporate and MICE market segments, including Yieldable contracting.Build long-lasting relationships with existing and new customers to enable future bookings. Attend activities including sales calls, events, FAM trips, trade shows.Assists the Head of External Sales in the creation and implementation of sales plans and strategies.Creates and develops special events and sales blitzes to provide exposure for the hotel to potential clients.Attends international trade shows and major market events to promote new business and increase sales opportunities for the hotel.Understands local, national and international corporate markets - competitors' strengths and weaknesses, business trends, supply and demand - and know how to sell against them.Executes the brand's customer service standards throughout the sales process.Ensures understanding within the proactive sales team of the strategies and effective implementation for each segment.Develops strong partnerships with international organizations and companies to further increase brand/product awareness and develop new opportunities.Builds Relationships with the following: Internal: Marriott GSO, On-property teams and administrative support staff.
External: Customer/Client Base in international markets.
Assists Head of External Sales in the preparation of the travel plan and budget.
Hours: The typical working days of the Convention Services Managers depend on groups and events business. The working hours should be from 09.00 AM to 17.00 PM, but are flexible according to evening and weekend events taking place in the hotel.
