.Summary: Under direct supervision, the Permit Technician serves as the first point of contact for Building Codes related inquiries. The individual in this position is responsible for the administrative and technical office support duties related to the processing and issuance of building permits.Essential Functions (in a typical work week):Assists building inspectors by performing code and records research and compiling data.Processes and issues building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and other related permits.Calculates fees based on established fee schedules and monitors approval of plans by other regulatory agencies.Maintains computer files and other manual logs on all building permits and related documents.Performs simple plan reviews as allowed per OAR.Performs related duties as directed.Responsibility/Accountability: This section of the job description describes the amount and breadth of responsibility and accountability that rests with the position, including the expected results of the position, the impact on County operations and activities, and the responsibility for budget. Positions at this level are not responsible for any supervisory functions or responsibilities, but may occasionally be asked to orient and/or train new employees.Interpersonal Skills/Contacts: This section of the job description describes the characteristics of personal interaction with others including the frequency of contacts with others, the breadth of interactions (within the County, outside the County, with vendors/contractors, dealing directly with the public, etc.), and the level of persons interacted with. Also, included in this section is the reason for contact such as gaining cooperation; use of negotiation, tact, teamwork, and sensitivity; or the likelihood of dealing with disagreeable or hostile individuals. Positions at this level have contact both with other County employees and members of the public. Internal contacts are normally made within the individual's own work group, or with similar positions in other departments
