Identify and validate qualified suppliers selected at competitive packaging costs Qualifications REQUIRED : Master's degree in Packaging Science or Packaging Processes Excellent knowledge of the English language. additional European languages (e.g., French, Spanish, Polish, German) are a plus Significant experience in the packaging industry (10+ years preferred) Long Expertise in the packaging industry Expertise in transport regulations and instructions Knowledge of local and global packaging legislation and regulations Strong understanding of total supply chain cost improvements (materials, manufacturing, transport, packaging processes, etc.)
In-depth knowledge of packaging materials, including sustainable alternatives Skilled in negotiating with packaging suppliers Effective communicator for collaboration with departments and suppliers to achieve goals Open mindset for improvements and cost engineering Innovative and pragmatic approach to problem-solving Ability to make quick, informed decisions Change management capability Willingness to travel 20%-30% Additional Information SPECIFIC JOB DESCRIPTION : Define and document the packaging, transport, and material sustainability strategy for Schreder's global product portfolio.
Collaborate with New Product Development (NPD) teams to create cost-effective, sustainable packaging designs for new product development.
Oversee packaging designs from start to finish: concept development (including sustainability criteria), design creation, cost target setting, supplier negotiation and selection, supply chain preparation, validation of packaging design, and transportation.
Review existing packaging designs for quality improvements and cost savings.
Drive transport strategy to enable cost-effective and sustainable global transportation—not only in Europe but also for shipments to Asia (considering high humidity conditions), using sea, truck, and container transport aligned with standard palletizing.
Build strong collaboration with all factories, managing transport from factory to warehouse before shipment to sales entities or directly to customers.
Define global packing processes (design for assembly) and identify opportunities to reduce material usage and waste (design for manufacture).
Document and implement these processes across all plants globally.
Identify concepts for packaging automation, develop proposals for CAPEX/OPEX, and drive project implementation.
Identify, validate, and qualify packaging suppliers, and maintain supplier scorecards.
Define and document global packaging test standards for all Schreder plants and contract manufacturers.
Ensure that, together with engineering, all packaging information (e.g., dimensions, weights, drawings) is available in the Bill of Materials (BOMs) for accurate reporting to support the latest EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulations.
