Ophthalmology Technician

Ophthalmology Technicians assist the Optometrist in performing routine examinations and minor surgical procedures. Applicants are expected to demonstrate problem solving and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize issues in a timely manner. They must be able to follow instructions/standardized work practices and communicate clearly, as well as establish effective relationships with staff, patients, and their families. Viable candidates must have a strong understanding of equipment safety and maintenance, and be able to illustrate professional judgment at all times.
ResponsibilitiesJob responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Answering phones, checking messages, making appointments, and taking paymentsPreparing examination and treatment roomsCleaning and maintaining ophthalmic instrumentsAssisting physicians during minor surgical and laser proceduresHandling drug refills/e-prescribesInsurance verificationsAuthorization and referralsExperienceMedical office experience preferred. EMR experience is ideal.
