The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is an international biomedical research institute of excellence, based in Barcelona, Spain, with more than 400 scientists from 44 countries.
The CRG is composed of an interdisciplinary, motivated and creative scientific team supported by flexible and efficient administration and high-end innovative technologies.
In April 2021, the CRG received the renewal of the HR Excellence in Research Award from the European Commission. This is a recognition of the Institute's commitment to developing an HR Strategy for Researchers, designed to bring practices and procedures in line with the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers.
About the role
As a pivotal member of our team at the CRG, you will take on responsibilities investigating and resolving operational processes on a daily basis contributing to the project National IMPaCT-Data. Leveraging your skills and problem-solving abilities, you will meticulously investigate issues to identify their root causes. Once pinpointed, you will apply your expertise to implement effective solutions, ensuring the seamless functioning of the EGA services and databases. Through your proactiveness, you will not only address immediate challenges but also contribute to the continuous improvement and streamlining of our operational processes, driving our organisation and project success.
Professional experience
Expertise in advanced PostgreSQL: Proficiency in PostgreSQL, including PL/pgSQL and replication.Advanced Python skills.Knowledge on AWS, specifically for S3, EC2, SES.Familiarity with messaging software, specifically RabbitMQ.Knowledge on Jenkins for automating software development processes, ensuring smooth integration and deployment.Experience with Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) pipelines to efficiently process and manage large volumes of data.Advanced Linux systems administration.Knowledge on Docker and related tooling.Proficiency in SQL and familiarity with Big Data database technologies.Education and training
You hold a Degree in Computational Science or a related field with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar position. Proven experience in Linux distributions, as well as experience in databases, system security, and related technologies.
Languages
You are fluent in English, as it is the working language of the group.

Contract duration: long-term contract, linked to the duration of the project. Estimated annual gross salary: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and consistent with our pay scales. Target start date: as soon as possible.
