The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is an international biomedical research institute of excellence, based in Barcelona, Spain, with more than 400 scientists from 44 countries. The CRG is composed of an interdisciplinary, motivated, and creative scientific team supported by a flexible and efficient administration and by high-end and innovative technologies.In April 2021, the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) received the renewal of the 'HR Excellence in Research' Award from the European Commission. About the role
As a pivotal member of our team at the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG), you will take on responsibilities investigating and resolving operational processes daily, contributing to the project National IMPaCT-Data. Leveraging your skills and problem-solving abilities, you will meticulously investigate issues to identify their root causes. Once pinpointed, you will apply your expertise to implement effective solutions, ensuring the seamless functioning of the EGA services and databases. Through your proactiveness, you will not only address immediate challenges but also contribute to the continuous improvement and streamlining of our operational processes, driving our organisation and project success.
Professional experienceMust have
Expertise in advanced PostgreSQL: Proficiency in PostgreSQL, including PL/pgSQL and replication
Advanced Python skills
Knowledge of AWS, specifically for S3, EC2, SES
Familiarity with messaging software, specifically RabbitMQ
Knowledge of Jenkins for automating software development processes, ensuring smooth integration and deployment
Experience with Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) pipelines to efficiently process and manage large volumes of data
Advanced Linux systems administration
Knowledge of Docker and related tooling
Proficiency in SQL and familiarity with Big Data database technologies
Education and training
You hold a Degree in Computational Science or a related field
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar position
Proven experience in Linux distributions, as well as experience in databases, system security, and related technologies
Languages
You are fluent in English, as it is the working language of the group
Competences

You are proficient in writing documentation
You are accurate and detail-oriented

Desirable but not required/ Nice to have
C programming language experience
Genomics data expertise: knowledge of genomics data, including data types, tools, pipelines, and indexing technologies

Selection Process
Pre-selection: The pre-selection process will be based on qualifications and expertise reflected in the candidates' CVs. It will be merit-based.
Interview: Preselected candidates will be interviewed by the Hiring Manager of the position and a selection panel if required, typically in two rounds of interviews. In some cases, a small test may be requested to assess skills.
Offer Letter: Once the successful candidate is identified, the People department will send a Job Offer, specifying the start day, salary, working conditions, among other important details.
