International Operational Excellence (OE) is a newly expanded organization, responsible for supporting our international issuing and acquiring businesses across 27+ countries and ensuring they have a robust first line of defense.
International OE plays an active role in enabling the businesses to meet their growth objectives whilst demonstrating an effective control framework.
Our organization helps our international businesses manage risk, respond to new regulation, and develop new products whilst creating and nurturing effective partnerships across multiple key stakeholders across the organisation.
Reporting into the VP GMS Operational Excellence, this exciting new position will lead the European GMS Operational Excellence team.
The role will be responsible for actively supporting the merchant acquiring business to deliver on its business objectives, and for ensuring it is executing effectively against local and central control and compliance expectations.
This role will also have responsibility for the implementation of the European legal entity governance framework and for oversight of the effectiveness of the legal entity control framework.
This will mean being a trusted advisor supporting the business to assess, mitigate and accept risk; ensuring a strong control focus is integrated into day-to-day operations; supporting business initiatives to enable strong business growth in the region; and ensuring issues and risks are managed appropriately at business and legal entity level.
The role also involves partnering closely with the European Country Managers and Chairs of the legal entity risk committees and board of directors to execute the legal entity governance strategy and to incorporate industry best practice and external perspectives into the legal entity governance plans.
Responsibilities:Operational Excellence Program execution:Risk Identification and Issue Management: Partner across central and local teams to ensure that all material risks and issues are identified, monitored, prioritised, and managed in accordance with local business, regulatory and AXP-wide expectations.
Support business processes to manage and resolve issues effectively.
Drive early detection of risks and issues, supporting the business to fix them rapidly, in line with risk appetite.
Provide transparency through reporting on business risks, issues and/or control deficiencies, results of self-assessments, testing, audits, and external events with potential impact to the business.Enabling business growth and Change Management: Conduct robust risk assessment on material changes, supporting AXP teams in efficient execution, defining and implementing appropriate controls and monitoring for sustainable risk management.
Manage the end-to-end risk assessment process for all new products, platforms and capabilities across the region supporting and enabling business growth in accordance with AXP requirements and any external regulatory requirements.LE Governance & Control framework: Ensure that the European legal entity has an Operational Risk Framework in place that supports business processes and change management.
