.The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy, and education. ISGlobal has a broad portfolio in communicable and non-communicable diseases including environmental and climate determinants, and applies a multidisciplinary scientific approach ranging from the molecular to the population level. Research is organized in five main areas:Climate, Air Pollution, Nature and Urban Health; Environment andhealth over the Lifecourse; Global Viral and Bacterial infections; Malaria and Neglected Parasitic Diseases; Maternal, Childand Reproductive Health.ISGlobal is accredited with the Severo Ochoa distinction, a seal of excellence of the Spanish Science Ministry.LugarBarcelona, Centre Esther KoplowitzWHAT WE ARE LOOKING FORISGlobal is seeking a full-time SENIOR LAB TECHNICIAN who is interested in taking over and managing activities of the project "Pre-clinical studies of the cyclic peptide PLP-3, active against multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacilli."The overall project goal is to continue developing the main objective of the project by carrying out pre-clinical studies of a bicyclic peptide with antibacterial activity, specifically the ones related to in vitro studies of activity and synergies, as well as the coordination of in vivo studies. The activities in which the SENIOR LAB TECHNICIAN will be involved related to the Project will be:- Supervision of the study of the synergistic activity of PLP-3 with other antibiotics.- Supervision and support of the in vitro studies to determine the bactericidal/bacteriostatic activity using lethality curves. The tasks will be developed in the research laboratory of Dr. Jord Vila's group at Centre Esther Koplowitz (CEK).The activities will be carried out in the framework of the project "Pre-clinical studies of the bi-cyclic peptide PLP-3, active against multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacilli" funded by the Department of Research and Universities of the Generalitat de Catalunya (2023 PROD 00134).KEY RESPONSIBILITIESThe key responsibility of the candidate will be to participate in the general organization of the research group and its equipment and infrastructure, and ensure that all the research lines are correctly carried on with the techniques performed in our laboratory, providing support to all the members involved (PhD Students / Post-doctoral students / Visitors / other Lab Technicians) and to other activities within the scope and purpose of the "Pre-clinical studies of the cyclic peptide PLP-3, active against multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacilli" project.TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS- Previous laboratory experience in the microbiology field (4 years), particularly in antimicrobial resistance.
