.JOB DESCRIPTION The Clinical Genomics Research group focuses on developing new tools for genetic diagnostics and also building the basis of a personalized strategy for the Neurofibromatoses and Schwannomatosis.
We are a multidisciplinary team performing both research and clinical tests since we are members of the Genetic Service at Hospital Germans Trias & Pujol and the Spanish Reference center of Phakomatoses.
Currently we are developing different research projects related to Neurofibromatoses and Schwannomatosis, mostly focused on: Development of new genetic test methods; Study the contribution of NF2 mutation into the progression of schwannomas and meningiomas; Development ofpersonalized therapy for Neurofibromatosis type 2 patients.
We are seeking an organized, motivated and team-oriented bioinformatician with previous experience in high-throughput data management and analysis and with the desire to work in a multidisciplinary team focused on translational research and to get involved in the different projects of the group.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES - As a member of the Clinical Genomics Unit, you will participate in the different ongoing projects in the laboratory, research activities and publications, but mainly in the analysis of different -omic data generated in the group.- You will actively design and implement new pipelines and software at the research level, participate in research activities within the clinical genomics group and in team research publications.- You will work on a daily basis in a multidisciplinary team with clinical staff, bioinformaticians, biologists and molecular geneticists.- You will interact with experts in medicine, genetics and bioinformatics to jointly evaluate the different designs, software, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE - Degree in informatics, computer science, computational biology or similar, if possible with some biology or genetics knowledge.
Applicants with degrees in biotechnology, biology or other life sciences will be considered providing they can demonstrate expertise in bioinformatics/computational genomics.- Familiar with front-end web programming skills (HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, etc.
).- Cloud-based Linux design/admin/monitoring.- Scientific computing skills (mostly Python and/or R, Conda, Singularity, etc.).
Data integration techniques will be considered.- Knowledge of Next Generation Sequencing, genomic and transcriptomic data analysis will be an asset.- Fluent English.- Maintaining close communications with supervisors regarding progress.- Candidates must be highly motivated, proactive, and independent, with the ability to work in a dynamic team environment.- Good organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.- Ability to perform as a team member and good interpersonal skills.
