.Job title: Privacy Counsel Department: Legal Location: European based in one of our CooperVision office locations Working hours: Full time, Mon-Fri (hybrid working arrangements) A brighter future awaits you Job summary - What to expect: As Privacy Counsel, you'll be offering crucial privacy guidance to key stakeholders throughout the business on a wide array of privacy matters, including assisting with customer inquiries, transactions, and negotiations related to privacy, cybersecurity, data usage, data transfers, and other pertinent subjects. This position plays a critical role in partnering with the Legal, IT and business teams to drive the Cooper companies' strategic objectives and enhance the privacy program. Essential Functions & Accountabilities: Draft, manage and keep current group data protection and privacy strategy, guidelines and policies globally. Prepare, update, advise, train and support on data transfer and data protection impact assessments (DPIAs). Train the group and its employees on data protection and privacy laws, as well as company policies as they relate to the protection and management of personal data, including flagging and mitigating risk, and raising awareness among key stakeholders. Implement methods to continually measure and audit the level of maturity and compliance with data privacy laws across the group, identifying, evaluating, and acting on opportunities for improvement. Maintain an expert knowledge of GDPR, HIPAA data protection and privacy laws and best practices. Advise legal counsels on privacy compliance, including data processing agreements and data transfer mechanisms. Liaise with and refer to the Group Legal team data incidents / contentious data requests or complaints. Lead privacy related projects. Contribute to due diligence and onboarding of mergers and acquisitions, in the context of data protection. Review contracts as required / assist with the group's contractual negotiations as they relate to privacy compliance. Draft and maintain Cooper's standard agreements, policies, templates and handbooks. Advise in relation to the development and roll-out of digital marketing technology to customers and end users, in the context of data protection and privacy. About you: A successful candidate will have experience of working within a Privacy Counsel role or equivalent level, within an international matrix organisation. You'll be confident in working at both a strategic and hands-on level, demonstrate a strong aptitude for quick learning and adaptability, along with excellent stakeholder management and communication skills. Having a good level of knowledge when it comes to EMEA data privacy and digital matters including GDPR, AI Act, Data Act is required, as well as having a basic knowledge of CCPA, HIPAA and other data privacy law. Having a strong analytical and project management approach will be beneficial in this role
