Today, in its area of specialization and category, the institute is consistently ranked among the highest-quality research institutions worldwide.ICFO's NFL Team is responsible for managing and running the Nanofabrication Laboratory (NFL), a clean room ISO 6/7 research core facility, open to all ICFO research groups.We are currently looking for an NFL Head, who will supervise the NFL Team to provide scientific support to the laboratory users, promote internal and external collaborations, seek financial support, and instigate innovation of equipment and research activities.Main ResponsibilitiesThe main responsibilities for this position include (but are not limited to) the following:Responsible for having the clean room and its equipment running smoothlySupervision of the NFL team (planning, evaluation, career development, etc.)Contact/inform/update group leaders (NFL users); direct the NFL steering committeeOversee and manage NFL FinancesPromote ICFO internal collaborationsInitiate new research activitiesSeek for financial support through grant opportunitiesCoordinate purchase of equipment, incl. tender definitionsManage collaboration with external academic usersFoster collaboration with companies and industryRequirementsResearch Field: Engineering, Physics, OtherEducation Level: PhD or equivalentSkills/QualificationsCandidates must hold, at the time of contract initiation, an internationally-recognized Ph.D.-equivalent degree (or evidence of its completion in the nearest future) preferably in Engineering, in Physics, in Science or similar.The candidate should have:Experience in a similar position, preferably in an international research and/or academic environment.Capacity to represent the NFL unit in academic, industrial and social environments.Knowledge of strategic planning and resource allocation.Strong communication, people/team management and problem-solving skills.Experience in grant applications to obtain resources for the NFL unit.Hands-on experience in processes and clean room equipment maintenance is an asset.LanguagesENGLISH Level: ExcellentAdditional InformationBenefitsWe offer:The opportunity to become a member of a dynamic and internationally recognized research institution.Full-time permanent position.Salary according to the institutional salary scales.Eligibility criteriaICFO is an equal opportunity employer.
