We're currently looking for an Internal Linguist who is excited about championing continuous improvement of our quality-driven operational workflow for translated patent content. You will oversee quality evaluation, supplier feedback management, and maintain linguistic assets for specific key languages in the intellectual property domain to optimize our workflow and operational practices.
You will perform the translation, post-editing, and proofreading of patents and other documents from English into at least one of German, French, Dutch, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Chinese, Korean, or Japanese to ensure our products have the most accurate, relevant, and up-to-date information using the latest industry technology, including CAT tools.
About You- Excellent reading and writing skills in English (C1/C2).
- Excellent reading and writing skills in one or more of German, French, or Dutch. Ability in more than one language and other languages is desirable.
- Degree and/or background (master's/advanced degree preferred; other qualifications considered where relevant) in:
Translation or Language related degreeEngineering or other Technical degree requiredLife sciences including pharmacology, pharmaceutical chemistry, clinical medicine, etc.- Excellent attention to detail; previous experience in quality control is preferable.
- Effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to set priorities and achieve deadlines in a busy work environment.
- Visible "can do" approach to work and positive attitude to change.
It would be great if you also had:
Spanish, Russian, or Arabic as valuable additions to required languages.Experience with CAT tools is highly desirable but not essential as training will be provided.Intellectual property experience is highly desirable but not essential as training will be provided.A customer-driven approach and good commercial awareness.A team player with the ability to work under own initiative, driving concepts to conclusion.Problem identification and solving skills.An enthusiastic approach to extending knowledge and learning new skills.What will you be doing in this role?- In-depth control of incoming translations in conformity with customers' instructions of the target languages and according to the source text, glossaries, translation memories, and internal quality check procedures.
- Post-editing and enhancing translations to ensure deliverables have full accuracy and meet the highest quality standards, evaluating MT engines based on selected criteria.
- Reviewing editorial suggestions applied to local translation dictionaries, approving valid suggestions, and overseeing updates to master dictionaries and translation memories.
- Communicating with customers and suppliers in a proactive and customer-oriented mindset to ensure translations are efficiently processed and that any quality issues or linguist questions are addressed, while respecting internal communication and complaint policy, customer specificities, internal procedures & templates, quality standards, and KPIs.
- Playing an active role in selecting new suppliers for the company's supplier network and onboarding them onto CAT Tools.
- Regularly assessing supplier quality and providing feedback to suppliers where necessary.
- Proactively recommending improvements as well as corrective and preventive actions to reduce customer complaints, improve efficiency, and mitigate risks.
- Participating in continuous improvement by collaborating in quality or project-related initiatives.
- Actively participating in weekly team meetings, preparing the yearly individual evaluation process by submitting proposals for next year objectives and training propositions according to company values.
- Participating in creating an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture and a team spirit by training, assisting, and monitoring new colleagues.
