Position Summary
Alexion engages in diseases which are not only rare and devastati ng, but also highly complex and scienti fi callychallenging. The Medical Science Liaison, in an hybrid role, responsible for the disease areas of hematology andnephrology will play a vital role in initi ati ng and sustaining an exchange of scienti fi c informati on with Health CareProfessionals (HCPs) and other identi fi ed stakeholders in a given Insti tuti on, working closely with their colleagues fromCommercial (both Sales and Access) at a regional and nati onal level. He/she will be a specialist who serves as a fi eld-based scienti fi c resource and disseminates medical informati on and collects relevant data for Alexion from the field.
Principal Responsibilities Develop and conti nuously maintain the highest scienti fi c and medical experti se in the Complement area, both inPNH and aHUS and related pathologies and be acknowledged internally and externally as an expert in theseareas.Attend appropriate nati onal and internati onal meeti ngs and congresses for personal educati on and engagementand scienti fi c exchange with the medical and scienti fi c community mainly in the areas of interest.Support the development and drive implementati on of a local Medical Affairs Plan and strategy, to support bestclinical practi ce and the overall corporate objectives.Ensure that accurate and comprehensive scienti fi c informati on concerning our products is available to decisionmakers and healthcare provider's e.g. att end fi eld-based calls, where Medical Aff airs experti se is requiredWork closely with the affi liate leadership to identi fy and address staff training needs. Conduct and providemedical leadership to training programs for the commercial teams and other functi ons.Coordinate the ti mely and appropriate response to internal and external Medical Informati on enquiries, uti lisingglobal medical informati on resources and in line with local regulatory requirementsDrive the identi fi cati on, development and alignment with Key Opinion Leaders, other important customers, andstakeholders, including professional organisati ons, being the medical interface with any given insti tuti on underhis/ her responsibility.Deliver quality medical educati on presentati ons in a variety of setti ngs e.g. Ad Board, Round Tables, HospitalMeeti ng acti viti es, using a mix of presenti al and virtual vehicle opti ons, all in accordance with the setti ngrequirements and compliance rules. Qualifications Experience in Pharmaceuti cal / Biotechnology industry essentialPrior experience as an MSLProven track record of relati onship development in the industry.Proven ability and experience to present complex scientific dataPrevious experience in Complement area is a plus.Prior exposure to complex matrix organizati ons, experience in hybrid roles or experience working as part of avirtual team is a plus.Microsoft Offi ce experience essenti al (exposure to databases an advantage)Highly arti culate and persuasive during presentati ons; able to convey complex scienti fi c ideas fl uently to anyaudience, either presenti al or virtually.Self-starter. Works independently.
