As a Mechanical Engineer on the Ample Iberia team, you will take a proactive, hands-on approach to tackle and solve an array of practical mechanical technical problems, working alongside a variety of hardware and software domains, bringing both excellent technical skills and a positive, team-centric attitude.
Responsibilities: Develop solutions to system level concepts from initial brainstorm to production.
This will include critical thinking, leading PowerPoint and CAD based design reviews, utilizing hand calculations and FEA to develop functional prototypes Conduct product testing, provide assistance to electrical and software engineers to release a production grade system while under an ambitious timeline Create, document, and release 3D CAD and 2D GDT drawings for complex system designs, utilizing knowledge in CNC, sheet metal, additive manufacturing, injection molding, die casting and welding Assemble prototypes and rapidly iterate on design, focusing on DFM, cost and ease of assembly Design automation components and subsystems for Ample's battery swap stations Design structures and architectural elements for Ample's battery swap station Design fixtures and assembly aides to improve ergonomics, speed and repeatability Requirements: Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics or similar field with 3-5 years industry experience Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals including structural material mechanics, thermal dynamics, engineering kinematics dynamics and machine design Excellent 3D modeling skills and strong FEA analysis skills (Solidworks preferred) Proven ability to research and develop complex projects and physically build functional prototypes.

Design experience with automated or robotic systems, (e.g.
motorized systems or complex machines, linear automation) Solid understanding of manufacturing methods and design constraints for CNC machining, sheet metal forming, injection molding, welding and additive manufacturing Strong electrical fundamentals with good understanding of robotic sensors, control electronics and closed loop feedback mechanisms Strong communication, presentation and hands on skills through proven experience Enjoys wearing multiple hats, being scrappy, and getting their hands dirty!
