This will include critical thinking, leading PowerPoint and CAD based design reviews, utilizing hand calculations and FEA to develop functional prototypesConduct product testing, provide assistance to electrical and software engineers to release a production grade system while under an ambitious timelineCreate, document, and release 3D CAD and 2D GD&T drawings for complex system designs, utilizing knowledge in CNC, sheet metal, additive manufacturing, injection molding, die casting and weldingAssemble prototypes and rapidly iterate on design, focusing on DFM, cost and ease of assemblyDesign automation components and subsystems for Ample's battery swap stationsDesign structures and architectural elements for Ample's battery swap stationDesign fixtures and assembly aides to improve ergonomics, speed and repeatabilityRequirements: Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics or similar field with 3-5 years industry experienceStrong mechanical engineering fundamentals including structural & material mechanics, thermal dynamics, engineering kinematics & dynamics and machine designExcellent 3D modeling skills and strong FEA analysis skills (Solidworks preferred)Proven ability to research and develop complex projects and physically build functional prototypes.
