Descripción The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR ISGlobal is seeking a full-time MASTER who is interested in taking over and managing activities of the project "Desarrollo de dos nuevas estrategias (inhibidores de bombas de expulsión y ARN antisentido) activas frente a bacterias multirresistentes".
The overall project goal is to continue developing the main research line of the project, more specifically the ones related to the search and characterization of a cyclic peptide (CP) as inhibitors of efflux pumps (EP) in A. baumannii, P. aeruginosa and K. pneumoniae and to investigate the effect of this CP against genes essential for the viability of the aforementioned microorganisms.
The activities in which the MASTER will be involved related to the Project will be:
Evaluation of the in vitro activity and stability of the molecule with antimicrobial potential found against the abovementioned species.
Evaluation of the effect of this peptide regarding its mechanism of action against the bacteria.
The tasks will be developed in the research laboratory of Dr. Jord Vila's group at Centre Esther Koplowitz (CEK).
KEY RESPONSABILITIES The key responsibility of the candidate will be to participate in the general organization of the research group and its equipment and infrastructure, and ensure that all the research lines are correctly carried on with the techniques performed in our laboratory, providing support to all the members involved (PhD Students / Post-doctoral students / Visitors / other Lab Technicians) and to other activities within the scope and purpose of the "Desarrollo de dos nuevas estrategias (inhibidores de bombas de expulsion y ARN antisentido) activas frente a bacterias multiresistentes" project.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS Previous laboratory experience in the microbiology field, particularly in antimicrobial resistance. Training in Molecular Biology.
SKILLS Candidate with initiative and proactivity Outstanding organizational and good teamworking skills. Responsible, flexible and with problem solving skills. Eager to learn, proactive and with great initiative. Demonstrable adaptability and flexibility to adapt positively to change. Previous experience in molecular microbiology. SELECTION PROCESS The selection process is designed in two phases:
1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation. To assess the person's skills and CV.
2 - Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.
A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.
