In 2022 and 2023, Triodos Bank initiated a transition to a unified "One Bank" operating model and started integrating key functional areas across the five Triodos countries. Triodos Bank has a clear and distinctive profile (mid-size, with impact as its main product, and clear vision where to invest), which means that all the products and services should be standardized where possible across the group. To explore the potential and opportunities for Triodos Bank Spain, and to continue sustainable banking in the Spanish context, we are looking for a visionary leader to take on the position of Managing Director Triodos Spain.

How you will make a difference

You will help us to 'change finance to finance change', by translating Triodos' Group strategy to the country context and the country specific business plan and initiatives. This includes translating the Group's functional and commercial strategy into country objectives, providing local guidance and communicating country needs. This role is responsible for delivering national results, represent Triodos Bank externally in the market and public domain and inspiring the team.

Regarding Triodos essence & business development you will:

Represent Triodos Bank in the public domain, serve as ambassador for the essence of the Triodos Bank in the country market, public domain and co-worker community. Embedding Triodos Bank essence and identity on a country level.

Develop Triodos' local business (balancing impact, risk and return) within the groupwide framework & guidelines and has the commercial & customer responsibilities for Business Banking and Personal (& Private) banking customers within the market.

Be accountable & responsible for the country commercial P&L, including realizing Profit and Impact objectives.

Regarding Country organization you will:

Be ultimately accountable for decisions taken in the country. You will provide the country perspective and be consulted for significant country related matters and influence decisions by Group Directors.

Build and develop the local Triodos team, culture, performance and organization. Ensuring working together as 'one bank' across the Group and pro-actively managing the relationships with Group.

Be responsible for recruitment, dismissal, remuneration, development and management of direct reporting lines (Business Banking, Personal Banking, Facilities, Management Assistants and Fundación Triodos team members).

Serve as a president of the Fundación Triodos.

Regarding Regulatory & Control you will:

Have an oversight responsibility regarding all applicable external and internal rules, standards, ways of working, regulations, policies, financials and controls. You will make sure the country's risk profile is aligned with the risk appetite of Triodos Group.

Represent the Triodos Bank Group in its relationships with the local regulators and local stakeholders, in consultation with the Group Directors.

Have an official representative role in several entities as Banco de España, CNMV, SEPBLAC, AEB and legal obligations and responsibilities as representative of the bank.

Furthermore, it is expected that you will have:

Proven experience leading a local organization within an international group; experience in a matrix organization is a plus

A strong affinity for Triodos Bank's mission, ideally with experience in a purpose-led, values-based organization

Demonstrated commercial acumen in driving performance through clear expectations, team empowerment, and accountability, supported by a track record in financial services or NGO/political sectors

Fluency in Spanish and English in both speaking and writing

Note: The proposed candidate must be approved by Bank of Spain as well as Dutch Central Bank (DNB).

Organisational structure

The MD Spain is reporting directly to the CCO and be a member of the CCO leadership team.

Co-workers in Spain: 5 direct reports (2 Heads, 1 Team lead, 2 assistants) and around 100 indirectly (Business Banking, Personal Banking, Facilities, Fundación Triodos co-workers). In total, 290 co-workers are active in Spain (remaining are working in a functional reporting line).

Offices in Spain: 19 commercial offices distributed in the main autonomic communities around Spain geography, with retail and business segment approach.
