About this opportunity In this Indirect Tax Manager role, you will join the Global Indirect Tax team, supporting Align in the EMEA region on internal and external indirect tax matters.
You will partner with our business stakeholders on commercial initiatives, manage indirect tax audits, implement indirect tax policies, review and optimize indirect tax processes, and oversee the implementation of legislative changes. We are looking for in-depth knowledge and experience in European VAT law; this position is office-based at one of the following locations: Madrid - Spain, Paris - France, Milan - Italy, Birmingham - UK, Amsterdam - Netherlands. We have a hybrid model, requiring employees to be in the office 3 days per week (Tue, Wed, Thursdays).
In this role, you will Functional ResponsibilitiesAssess the potential impact of indirect tax legislative changes and trends; provide updates to the business and Indirect Tax management; coordinate with relevant stakeholders the implementation of the changes.Identify indirect tax implications of new products/transaction flows, and coordinate necessary requirements with relevant stakeholders.Review quality and policy adherence of all indirect tax requirements (documentation, record retention).Support indirect tax audit defense, as well as gather documentation for routine queries.Support our compliance team in the review and approval of indirect tax returns, journal entries, and account reconciliations. Cross Functional ResponsibilitiesPartner with relevant business stakeholders (supply chain, IT, Accounting) in order to monitor and ensure compliance to indirect tax requirements (e.g. transport documentation, contracts, and invoicing requirements).Facilitate the implementation of internal and external changes from an indirect tax perspective.Handle tax queries from business stakeholders.Interact with external parties such as auditors, consultants. In this role, you'll need A Bachelor's/Master's degree in law, tax, accounting or economics.Tax certification, a plus.Minimum 6 years of relevant in-house professional experience in regional indirect tax, including consulting experience (big four preferred).Minimum 1-2 years of management experience.Experience in leading a compliance center, a plus.Basic understanding of other compliance activities, such as statutory accounting and corporate tax compliance.Fluent in English - written and spoken.
