Job DescriptionIn this key, business facing role, you'll be responsible for preparation, reporting and commentary on P&L costs for the Marketing function as well as other General Overheads for the Group (including Corporate Finance, Sustainability and Corporate Affairs). Bringing strong business partnering skills and a confidence in presenting financial information to senior non-finance staff, you'll provide meaningful insight to help the business track against its budget and forecasts. In addition, you'll input into the monthly management accounts, and will use your broader business knowledge to provide meaningful commentary, performance analysis and explanations of significant variances to budget at a level of detail and tone appropriate for the Board.
As a visible member of the Finance team, you'll be first port-of-call for queries relating to costs from a range of stakeholders across the business. This will include collaborating with teams based in London, Edinburgh and Paris to investigate problems and explore solutions. You'll also be helping to support and mentor other junior team members in this large yet close knit team.
Our ever-expanding business changes by the day. With this comes a wealth of ad-hoc projects and process improvements we'll seek your involvement in. As such, we're looking for someone with initiative who can recognise and act on these opportunities for change and is keen to get involved with new projects to help the business.
ResponsibilitiesBusiness partnering and leading meetings with business heads to present key variance analysis and other commentary on cost areasDeveloping and maintaining a solid understanding of business risks and opportunities to analyse performance, identify interdependencies and to provide insightful commentary and explain significant variances to budget and forecastTaking a key role in annual budget and ongoing reforecast processes, liaising with the business and utilising understanding to present coherent proposalsPreparing month end journals, balance sheet reconciliations and supporting working papers, and reviewing the work of junior team membersAssisting in interim and year-end audit requirementsQualificationsA qualified ACA or CIMA accountant (or equivalent), either newly qualified or with 1-2 years' PQEStrong academic backgroundAnalytically minded with a blend of commercial know-how, financial discipline and technical accounting knowledgeStrong interpersonal skills necessary to build key relationships with senior members of the Group's executive teamA confident communicator with the ability to deliver messages and plans to fellow stakeholders at all levelsExcellent at project and task management with the ability to adapt quickly to new situations and prioritiesProactive with a can-do attitude and a desire to take ownershipThis 12 month contract can be based out of our London or Edinburgh office, we offer hybrid working from either location but the role cannot be fully remote.
