The Skincare Research Manager leads the team Active Ingredient & Open Innovation, responsible for scouting, designing, developing, and delivering new, better, and different active ingredients for our skincare brands.
This team plays a major role in defining the key innovation strategic axis of our skincare research programs.
Brands include Dr Barbara Sturm, Charlotte Tilbury, Loto del Sur, Kama Ayurveda, Rabanne, Penhaligon's, Uriage, and Apivita.
What you'll get to do New Product Development
Build scientific concepts in collaboration with formula development and marketing teams.
Support and play a key role in the creation and design of product claims (literature, testing, supplier data, etc.
).Technology Scouting
Coordinate relationships and establish key partnerships with our core suppliers.
Scout, assess, and establish partnerships with start-ups and academics.
Lead and steer the signature of legal agreements where needed (NDA, MTA, JDA, etc.
).Upstream Research
Lead our key research programs defined based on identified skincare innovation territories.
Contribute to the identification, definition, and review of innovation territories.
Collaborate with our testing capabilities to demonstrate the activities and superiority of active ingredients (in-vitro, in-vivo, etc.).
Lead the writing of scientific publications and the filing of patents.Trend, Competitor, and Patent Monitoring
Identify and report key active beauty trends via sharing tools.
Maintain competitor monitoring in the fields of beauty science, skin biology, dermatology, medicine, and active ingredients.
Use and report patent filing activities of key beauty actors (suppliers, competitors, etc.
).Digitalization of Our Active Ingredients Database
Drive the implementation of new systems and tools enabling the landscaping of active ingredients.
Propose new solutions to drive synergies and efficiency.Create Synergies and Leverage Active Platforming
Engage and partner with all categories, especially skincare, makeup, hair care, and fragrance teams.We'd love to meet you if you have Hard SkillsMaster's degree in sciences (chemistry, biochemistry, biology, pharmacology) - PhD is a plus.10+ years of progressive experience in the beauty industry with a minimum of 10 years in active ingredients development, skincare research, scientific valorization & communication.Deep expertise in skin science, active ingredients, global solution-providers with a strong understanding of market and consumer trends.Proven track record working with luxury & prestige skincare brands, with a commitment to protecting and elevating brand image.Fluency in English; Spanish and French are a plus.Advanced proficiency in Power BI, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as tools like Questel, Patbase, Mintel, Coptis, etc.
