Today, we employ more than 11,600 people around the world.QBE Europe SA/NV is headquartered in Brussel and while we are international in our outlook, we are also proudly local in our operations with our Spain office in Madrid.Property Underwriter (M/F) Your responsibilities for this role may include, but are not limited to:Underwrite complex insurance risks in accordance with the business plan and the personal authority to meet business objectives, including:Negotiating rates, terms and conditions for existing and new businessCompliance of production and issue of contract certainty documentation (non Lloyds)Ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations and guidelinesEnsuring contribution to the business plan and objectivesSupport credit control in payment collectionPositively promote the department, division and company as a whole in order to maximize brand leveragePerform underwriting activities in accordance with all legal and regulatory requirements to ensure obligations are metEnsure the recording and measurement of insurance risks, (including DUA's if relevant) to ensure accuracy and good practiceUnderstand and comply with any reinsurance requirements to minimize risk and to deliver business plan objectivesDemonstrate an understanding and awareness of market dynamics and market cycle to enhance business performanceMaintain expertise and team knowledge through identifying appropriate learning and development activitiesParticipate in the review and analysis of the portfolio to identify progress toward business objectivesContribute to the aggregate management and peer review processes to encourage and develop excellenceEstablish, strengthen and develop relationships with stakeholdersYour story so far A high level of numeracy and literacyExceptional organizational and prioritization skillsSound analytical skillsExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsProven negotiating skillsAbility to analyse data and use for decision makingExceptional attention to detailIt would be advantageous to have the following skills:Thorough understanding of class specific underwriting and reinsurance knowledgeProven knowledge of relevant market conditions for specific class/portfolioGood knowledge of relevant QBE underwriting systemsIntermediate level understanding of relevant software including Excel and other departmental software packagesGood knowledge of legal and regulatory requirementsGood knowledge of QBE underwriting process and procedures including EPA'sWorking for us.
