In this role, you will be responsible for developing organizational security initiatives that align with the company's strategic plans. As part of your role, you will work with the senior leadership team to prioritize security needs and invest according to a budget. You will manage a team of security agents and work with local, provincial, state, and federal law enforcement and other security agencies. Identify security initiatives, risks, issues, and compliance requirements.
Modernize and optimize the company's various security systems (closed-circuit surveillance, access control, intrusion and burglar alarms) everywhere Techo-Bloc owns and operates plants or distribution centers.
Manage the development and implementation of global security policy, standards, guidelines, and procedures.
Prepare, update emergency evacuation plans and coordinate staff when responding to emergencies and alarms (Inspect and replace fire prevention equipment as required).
Provide expertise to senior management on emerging threats that can impact security, safety, operations, or reputation.
Establish and maintain relationships and communication with local law enforcement in each jurisdiction or other related government agencies.
Gather security intelligence and implement preventative measures.
Supervise responses to security incidents and ensure compliance with company guidelines, as well as government laws and regulations. Investigate security breaches, all likely criminal matters or serious ethical violations to limit potential exposure to liability.
Establish Techo-Bloc's annual security budget and oversee all security-related expenses and invoices.
Develop and update policies, procedures, and protocols regarding areas such as loss prevention and fraud prevention, and privacy.
Review reports on incidents and breaches and investigate and resolve issues.
Manage, recruit, and train a team of +10 security staff members (maintain proper accreditations required to perform their duties).
Oversee a network of vendors and directors who secure the company's assets.
Develop procedures to ensure the physical safety of employees and visitors.
Implement video surveillance and prioritize security initiatives.
Develop network access and monitoring policies.
Conduct security audits in all of Techo-Bloc's locations in Canada and the United States.
Develop risk management assessments.
All other mandates assigned by the President.
Legal & Regulatory responsibilities Receive, assess and record all impending litigation (civil, labour, penal). Notify the corresponding department manager of the claim or prosecution. Gather all the relevant information, as well as available evidence (documents, pictures, statements, court records, and filings). Identify applicable laws. Gather and review existing jurisprudence. Draft replies to formal notices. Determine a litigation strategy with the company's stakeholders. Act as the emissary Importante empresa Techo-Bloc and opposing counsel. Advise and keep management informed throughout the process. Accompany staff members to court hearings and pre-trial depositions. Oversee and approve legal expenses to avoid over-billing and futile proceedings. Represent Techo-Bloc in Small Claims Court in Quebec and Ontario. When necessary, enlist, brief and assist outside counsel.
Qualifications Post-secondary education or relevant education. Proven experience as a Security Officer, retired Police Officer / Armed Forces or as Head of Security. Minimum 6 years of experience in a similar role. Minimum 2 years of experience in a supervisory role. Strong communication & writing skills in both French and English. Experience in reporting and emergency response planning. Excellent knowledge of security protocols and procedures. Working knowledge of MS Office. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Outstanding organizational and leadership skills. Committed and reliable. Ability to work under pressure, both individually and within a team environment. Ability to work successfully in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment. Very high attention to detail and commitment to meet deadlines. Commissioner for oaths (preferred). Experience with C-TPAT (preferred).
