.Universidad de Deusto - InvestigaciónDescripción de la ofertaThe Vice-rectorate for Research and International Relations along with the Deusto Sustainable research team at the University of Deusto are seeking postdoctoral candidates to join the Faculty of Engineering.Purpose of the positionWe are looking for a researcher with proven experience in the area of Artificial Intelligence to join a European research project in the field of food waste, collaborating with prestigious partners, and contributing significantly to scientific progress in this area.Research TopicAccording to FAO it is estimated that around one third of the food produced for human consumption (i.E. 1.3 billion tons) are lost or wasted globally per year with significant impacts on the three sustainability pillars (environment, society and economy), becoming a specific target of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).Specifically, this target (number 12.3), aims to halve per capita global food waste at the retail and consumer levels, and reduce food losses along production and supply chains, by 2030.In order to achieve this target, a previous indispensable step is to understand better the causes behind the problem as well as to provide evidence about the real impact of the current FLW prevention strategies.The main objective of this research position is to make progress in the knowledge about the FLW problem by means of the development of data-driven models in order to identify behavioral patterns, analyze causes, and evaluate the efficiency of food loss and waste prevention strategies in terms of sustainability.Objectives of the positionData analytics for the diagnosis of generation patterns.Design and development of models based on machine learning and system dynamics for the analysis of the impact of food waste prevention strategies.Leading data collection and model design by coordinating multidisciplinary and international work teams.Publishing in high impact journals (WoS and SJR) along with group members.Working in competitive projects (Basque Government, Spanish Government, Horizon Europe).Submitting competitive research proposals.Principal InvestigatorAinhoa Alonso Vicario, PhDContact information:We offerDuration: The contract will be for 3 years.Amount and terms of payment: An allocation of 32,985.15 to 42,000 gross euros per year will be granted, distributed into 15 monthly installments, depending on the candidate's experience.Terms: The contract with the University of Deusto will fall under the associate researcher / investigador / a asociado / a category.RequisitosQualifications requiredPhD degree in Mathematics, Computer Engineering, Industrial or similar, with experience in the field of Artificial Intelligence.
