Job Purpose: The Team Leader will be responsible for a team of 5-7 people in the Accounting & Tax Department.
They will ensure that the quality of the deliverables and the workflow in the team follows TMF standards while building high-level relationships with feeders, clients, and third-party suppliers.
This role is meant to manage a team by developing their hard and soft skills to reach this purpose, while maintaining the best environment and balancing the workload between the members.
The Team Leader should progressively reduce their implication in the preparation of deliverables and focus on ensuring that the quality meets expectations.
They will also be accountable for the correct and timely submission of tax compliance, statutory reporting, and corporate reporting obligations of the team's portfolio.
The Team Leader will be the visible head of their team, required to solve service delivery issues while offering a helpful hand for its solution and ensuring that the team presents the best image of TMF in every situation or event.
Qualifications: University's Degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, or similar; At least 5-6 years of experience in a similar outsourcing firm; Excellent knowledge of Local GAAP & Tax compliance; knowledge about US GAAP/IFRS would be considered a plus; Experience in people management or provable/visible leadership skills; Resourceful, independent, and strong problem-solving abilities; Analytical structured mindset with the ability to follow and build upon existing processes; Proficiency in MS Office package, along with experience of local accounting ERPs; Advanced or proficient English; Relevant certifications - local or global (e.g., ACCA for A&T); Excellent written and communication skills in English and local language; Strong team-playing skills; Quick-learning and flexibility towards changing environments; Excellent organizational skills and adaptability to a high multitasking environment.
Key Responsibilities: Bookkeeping: Review closing figures, assist managers with technical GAAP interpretations and problem-solving, review GAAP conversions (mappings), ensure the correctness and timely preparation of deliverables, detect and escalate potential risks for directors or suspicious movements.
Tax Compliance: Validate VAT, Withholding tax, and CIT final draft forms, ensure all required tax forms are completed, detect and escalate potential risks from client tax obligations, manage tax audits together with Account Manager.
Cash Management: Ensure payments count with client approval and beneficiary account support document, validate transfer orders over a certain threshold for final signature.
Statutory Reporting: Review Annual Accounts consistency and ensure format follows TMF standards, review Consolidation Annual Accounts full package.
Corporate Reporting: Review any deliverable prior to being sent to the client.
Audit Assistance: Follow up audit status, attend high-level queries from auditors, attend meetings with auditors when the client is present.
Other Functions: Participate actively in Account Managers' training and development process, inform Account Managers about the why's and the how's, detect potential promotions in the team and perform team appraisals, manage potential dissatisfaction from team members, distribute balanced workload between team members, maintain a good environment among team members, serve as the main contact for clients on service delivery matters, detect cross-selling and up-selling opportunities, review Team's time sheets, coordinate with teams in other departments when needed, ensure that all obligations are met, participate and ensure population of department control sheets, ensure established workflow is followed adequately, detect client concerns and seek solutions proactively, assist Head of Department on recruitment processes, assist Head of Department on fee budget preparation, meet feeders and clients to enhance relationships, and be accountable for team internal reporting to Head of Department.
Competencies: Operational: Records time accurately and within deadline, be aware of client contracts and ensure correct 'out of scope' items, communicate (verbally and through written work) information clearly and concisely, support less experienced staff, be financially mindful of personal impact on the business, co-responsible with Account Manager for debt collection and negotiate fees with clients, communicate workload excess with enough time margin to enable solving reactions, and delegate work across the team as appropriate.
Corporate Culture Awareness: Expected to understand TMF Groups' business lines and how the organization is structured.
