Your role and responsibilities
Under the direction of LV Drives Service Manager and ABB MOSD Archaea Project Managers, a Resident Field Service Technician provides technical onsite and offsite support for Archaea project sites.
Duties include providing onsite support for ABB Low Voltage (LV) Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), accepting telephone calls and emails regarding installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and programming questions related to Archaea project sites.
You will be mainly accountable for:
Perform installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and repair of ABB Low Voltage (LV) Variable Frequency Drives (VFD).Investigate problems and independently initiate effective measures for their solution.Coordinate activities with related groups to most efficiently achieve objectives to ensure customer satisfaction.Carry out preparatory work regarding spare parts, testing of tools and equipment, and documentation as required.Submit completed, detailed, and comprehensive service reports in a timely manner and follow up when needed.Communicate effectively and present information to top management, customers, vendors, and other employees of the organization.Assure that all records and parameter files pertaining to LV drives installed at Archaea project sites are kept up to date.Develop an understanding of the processes and procedures at Archaea Project sites. Qualifications for the role Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical program and 5 years of experience in installing, testing, repairing or troubleshooting AC/DC drive systems and their associated controls.Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology, experience with LV Drives, knowledge of power electronics, motors, transformers, switchgear, and computer network communication protocol and theory of operation preferred.Ability to interpret circuit diagrams, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, technical manuals, and technical specifications.Ability to travel up to 80% of the time.Maintain a valid driver's license.Willing to provide technical support during evenings and weekends on a rotating schedule.Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; in high, precarious places; and in outside weather conditions; performs work related travel; and is occasionally exposed to extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, occasionally loud.
The employee is regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, and sit; use hands to manipulate and control tools, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls; reach above shoulders; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; and taste or smell.Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
